The Chairman of the Planning Committee of the Oriwu College at 75 Anniversary who doubled as the National Social Secretary of the Oriwu College Old Students’ Association of Nigeria (OCOSAN), Mr Abiodun Abari, has revealed the massive project that the association is pursuing to commemorate the anniversary of the premier college in Ikorodu Division.
Abari revealed the project, which is a 500 – capacity Oriwu College ICT/CBT Centre, while speaking with THE IMPACT crew at the, ‘A – Day with Students of the School’, held on Wednesday. The event was one of the week – long activities commemorating the anniversary.
He also said that other details on the construction of the facility will be unveiled at the grand finale ceremony/Award Dinner & Fund Raising for the ICT/CBT Facilities, on Saturday, October 5, 2024.
The grand finale event, which kicks – off at 3:00pm, will be chaired by the Odofin of Ikorodu Kingdom and Chairman, MultiChoice Nigeria, High Chief Adewunmi Ogunsanya, SAN, and held at the Ultra – Modern Ikorodu Town Hall.
“You are trying to get words out of me. Well, I will let the cat out of the bag now. There’s going to be a significant project to back it up (75th anniversary celebration), a project that is going to be one of its kind, when we talk about Secondary School level.
“A project that will be talked about in a very long while. Let me put it like this, we are projecting a 500 capacity ICT/CBT Center for the school. Let me just leave it like that. Thank you.
“Other details will be unwrapped at the Ikorodu Town Hall on Saturday”, he said.
Speaking on the significance of the celebration, Abari stated that Oriwu College is a very significant institution not only to Ikorodu, but also in Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole.
“I always look forward to coming back into this college, whether to come and celebrate something or whatever. This a day with students makes me feel like I’m younger than my age.
“Well, it’s one thing we cannot over emphasize, Oriwu College as an institution means a lot to Lagos State and by extension, Nigeria. So, the celebration goes beyond what we can even talk about here. It’s phenomenal. Let me just put it that way”, Abari said.
